TCELS collaborates with Mahidol University in promoting quality cosmetics and food supplements in the New Normal

The Department of Cosmetics and Food Supplements Program under the Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (TCELS), the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, joined with the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University in organizing a seminar titled “Enhancement of cosmetics and food supplements industry and related health products in the New Norma”. The seminar was held on 27-28 August, 2020 at The Berkeley Hotel Pratunam in Bangkok.
Dr. Sirasak Teparkum, Deputy CEO, TCELS and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvatna Chulavatnatol, Dean, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, jointly presided over the opening ceremony.
Dr. Sirasak explained that through the seminar, TCELS was aiming to raise entrepreneurs’ awareness and understanding of the Cosmetic Act B.E. 2558 (2015) and the Herbal Products Act B.E. 2562 (2019) and encourage them to undertake clinical trials based on international standards and scientific testing results to apply for registration with the Food and Drug Administration.
The event was also expected to provide knowledge and understanding to entrepreneurs on the use of disinfectant products to prevent COVID-19, as well as verification and analysis of alcohol product efficacy and effectiveness. This would ensure that consumers would only buy cosmetics, food supplements, hygiene and disinfection products of the highest quality and safety standards, thus enjoying a better quality of life in the New Normal environment.
