The Overview of the Global Healthcare Industry Revenue Category by Product Type.

          The revenue of global healthcare industry in 2017 is approximately 1.77 billion USD. With a stable growth rate of 4.82%, its revenue in 2018 will expected to reach approximately 1.85 billion USD. The areas of healthcare industry include Pharma and Biotech, Medical Technologies, Medical Imaging Equipment, In-Vitro Diagnostics, and Healthcare IT.  According to the chart, the Pharma and Biotech industry enjoys the highest revenue, with medicine for cancer, heart disease, respiratory disease and the like generating its main income.

          The high usage of the aforementioned medicine reflects the global healthcare problems, such as the increase in the number of diabetic patients that increases every year and will reach 642 million in 2040; the 36.9 million HIV patients worldwide, with 70% of these patients originating from south of Sahara desert in Africa; the Zika Virus pandemic in Latin America countries; an increase in the number of dementia patients that may rise to 74.7 million by 2030, and the generation shift from adults to elderly that will cause the proportion of elderly people (people whose age is more than 65 years old) in global society to inflate about 8%, or numerical terms is predicted to increase from 559 million in 2015 to 604 million in 2020.
