17th August 2019 / IMPACT Muang Thong Thani - “National Science and Technology Fair 2019” has been greatly opened under the concept “Science, Technology and Innovation: Inspiring Creativity for Better Living and Sustainability for the Nation”. The event will be held between 16 – 25 August 2019 at hall 6 – 12, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani to show the work and advanced science and technology potential domestically and internationally from 17 countries, 103 organizations magnificently, raise “9 highlight inspirations”. And don’t miss!! Moon Walk experience in low gravity and an opening of a prototype LEGO, SPIKE Prime in STEAM Education the first time in Thailand.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Weerapong Paesuwan, Chairman of the Advisors to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), president of the opening ceremony of “National Science and Technology Fair 2019” said science, technology and innovation are the important keys to change Thailand for the better and bring it out of 4 traps which are middle income trap, inequality, education quality and conflict. The role and mission of MHESI is like the locomotive that will drive Thailand to the future. Our country needs an exponential change, and the important partner that will lead this change to become a reality is human.

The new world is the world that has high uncertainty change, so we have to prepare our human resource to be ready for the 21st century. There must be creative thinking, goals and human’s heart to be able to integrate all scientific knowledges to create innovations that solve all Thailand’s issues, create balance environment that will lead to sustainable development goals according to the United Nation guidelines, by using efficient economy philosophy of the King Rama IV as a mean that’s known as SEP for SDGs. Moreover, our people have to build new learning skills, and out-of-classroom learning is vital because seeing, touching and having new experiences help us to understand, be inspired and motivated to continue self-learning further.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Weerapong ended his speech by saying that the National Science and Technology Fair is a creative learning space through many activities including lecturers, talented role models, exhibition from domestically and internationally that will spark and further creativity for youths, and may also lead many people to find out what they like or interest. All of these, thanks to agencies from government sector and private sector both inside and outside of Thailand, 17 countries, 103 organizations that cooperate to hold this event together to pass the inspiration in science and technology forward and create science culture in Thai society which will bring the country to advance development of technology and innovation in the future.

Assoc. Prof. Soranit Siltharm, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, said the event “National Science and Technology Fair 2019” between 16 – 25 August 2019 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani has a concept of communicating the importance of sustainable development goal (SDG) of the United Nation, and celebrate 2 important agendas of the world’s science and social in 2019, which are the 150th anniversary of the periodic table invention and the 50th anniversary of the landing on the moon of Apollo 11 project – the first step of humanity on the moon.

The event this year has an interesting presentation, promotes the learning through activities and also worships royal institution and appreciates in royal grace, perseverance and intelligent of the kings and member of the royal family. And there are exhibitions and activities to show the potential in science, technology and innovation of Thailand, as well as to show the advancement in state of the art technology and innovation from foreign countries. MHESI has carefully selected 9 highlight inspirations of 2019 on the issues that the public are interested in right now, such as ‘Mission to the Moon Exhibition’ to celebrate 50th anniversary of the human’s first step on the moon, and don’t miss a Moon Walk in low gravity experience, see the incredible work of the inventor who think beyond his era in ‘Nikola Tesla: the great inventor who intended to change the world’ exhibition, and join the celebration of the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements with the ‘Amazing City of Elements’ Exhibition, learn the biodiversity in the ‘Examining the species museum’ Exhibition which duplicates from Smithsonian Museum Architecture, why the plastics that have many different benefits has become an environmental degradation. Let’s find the real culprit together in ‘Plastics have changed the world’ Exhibition, and the debut of the prototype SPIKE Prime in STEAM Education activity the first time in Thailand. Moreover, there are many more other activities including science activities, competitions, seminar nationally and internationally to exchange experience, knowledge, and also build cooperation network in science, such as the big conference of InterAcademy Partnership Science Education Programme (IAP SEP) that will be held on this 20 – 22 August.
